The ECI case studies provide an overview of leading construction projects that have demonstrated excellence in their management and delivery.
Reflecting both large and small projects that have been undertaken by ECI members, the case studies describe the value-enhancing practices and innovative approaches utilised, which have been encouraged and implemented by using ECI-ACTIVE.
These have been recognised by the ECI as projects that have achieved significant success, receiving the prestigious ECI Project of the Year Award.
Please contact the ECI if you would like to find out more about submitting one of your projects for the ECI Project of the Year Award, the case study projects and the people involved, or how to get the best results on your projects with ECI-ACTIVE.
ECI-ACTIVE (Achieving Competitiveness Through Innovation and Value Enhancement) was developed in the early 1990s and has contributed to the successful delivery of numerous major projects from within the Engineering Construction sector.
The initiative is aimed at improving the performance of projects by changing adversarial behaviours and applying value-enhancing practices in project delivery.
ECI-ACTIVE is an industry-led initiative and was developed through a collaboration of senior managers from fifty of the industry’s leading organisations, representing a cross-section of the supply chain, and backed by UK government.
Having defined the eight ECI-ACTIVE principles, these working groups developed the Value Enhancing Practices within them that can be applied at all stages to any size or type of capital project. By applying these, you can realise a number of benefits on your own projects such as shorter timescales, lower capital costs and enhanced plant performance.
The eight ECI-ACTIVE principles are:
- Effective Project Concept and Definition
- Effective Project Team Management
- Effective Supply Chain Relationships
- Effective Information Management and Communication
- Effective Project Risk Management
- Effective Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Effective Project Execution
- Effective Performance Measurement
